AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society reported that far‑right Israeli minister Itamar Ben‑Gvir allegedly stepped on detainees’ heads during a raid carried out inside Ofer Prison in the occupied West Bank, according to Anadolu Agency.
A video circulating online shows Israeli forces storming Section 26 of the facility, violently assaulting detainees while Ben‑Gvir toured the area accompanied by Israeli journalists.
According to the PPS, the raid coincided with the evening “count,” a daily inspection often used to humiliate detainees. The operation lasted around 15 minutes and involved police dogs and the use of flashbang grenades.
The rights group added that Ben‑Gvir stayed in the section for nearly an hour, during which he reportedly made inflammatory and degrading remarks toward Palestinian prisoners.
The PPS further stated that the extremist minister insisted that footage of the assault be released alongside promotional slogans supporting proposed legislation calling for the execution of Palestinian detainees.
In November 2025, the Israeli Knesset passed the first reading of a bill introduced by Ben‑Gvir that would authorize the death penalty for Palestinians involved in resistance operations. The bill still awaits two additional readings, with no dates set.
The PPS emphasized that the published videos represent only a small portion of the systematic torture inflicted on Palestinian prisoners.
Lawyers from the organization collected testimonies describing Ben‑Gvir stepping on detainees’ heads and filming their humiliation.
Detainees also reported that guards forced them to keep their faces pressed to the ground during suppression operations, aiming to degrade their dignity and inflict physical pain.
